Tourism Circuit

A tourism circuit is a route on which at least three major destination are located in different areas but within such distance that tourist can and world like to cover them in a sequence. Circuit have well defined entry and exit points. A tourist who enters get motivated to visit most of the place identified in the circuit.

Heritage Tourist Circuit

A Heritage tourism circuit is one which includes destinations of historical/heritage value. The main emphasis of such heritage circuit is to preserve our rich heritage and revive old customs and traditions. Example – Varanasi – khajuraho – Agra.

Taj Mahal UNESCO World Heritage Site

Varanasi is the oldest city in India and is famous for it’s temples and ghats. Khajuraho is famous for the world renowned Taj Mahal.

Wildlife Tourist Circuits

A wildlife tourist circuit is one which includes destinations with wildlife sanctuary and national parks. The main emphasis of such circuit is to preserve wildlife in their natural form. Example:- Kaziranga National Park, Corbet – Ranthambone – Bandhavgarh – kanha. This circuit is famous for tigers and jungle safaris.

Religious Tourist Circuits

Sarnath-Temple

A religious tourist circuit is one which includes destinations for pilgrimage, missionary or leisure purposes. The main emphasis of such circuit is to visit holy cities/ destinations connected to a particular religion. Example:- Lucknow – Sravasti – Kushinagar – Gorakhpur – Varanasi – Bodhgaya – Rajgin – NalandaPatna. These are main destinations of Buddhist Circuit tour.

Tribal Tourist Circuits

The main emphasis of a tribal tourist circuit is to preserve their culture, traditions, retuals and make tourists aware about the same. Example:- Sibsagar – Mon – Majuli- Ziro – Daporijo- Basar- Dibrugarh.

These are tribal destination of the North eastern states of Assam , Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

Rural Tourist Circuit

A rural tourism or tourist circuit is one which has rural destinations located on it. The main emphasis of rural circuit is to give the tourists a feel of village life style and to enable an exchanges some interaction between the tourist and the locals. Example:- Thrikkaipetta – wayand- kochi these are village in Kerala.

Desert Tourist Circuit

Jaisalmer, Rajasthan

A desert tourism and tourist circuit is one which includes deserts destinations. Desert tourism involves travelling to desert destination with beautiful landscapes and advanture activities. Example:- Jodhpur – Jaisalmer – Bikaner. These are the desert destinations of Rajasthan.

Coastal Tourist Circuit

A coastal tourist circuit is one which has coastal destinations . Coastal tourism is based on a combination of land and sea environment. Example:- Part Blain – Havelock- Neil Island – Port Blain. These are the coastal destinations of Andamans.

Eco Tourist Circuit

Kaziranga National Park: The Rhino Land

An eco Tourist Circuit is one which includes travel to ecologically fragile Destinations. It emphasis to minimize the impact of tourism and keep it small scale. Example:- Guwahati – Kaziranga – Manas – Guwahati.

The Ramayana Circuit

Ayodhya: Birthplace of Lord Ram

Ramayana circuit is one of the fifteen thematic circuit identified for development under the swadesh darshan scheme of ministry of tourism. The Ramayana circuit includes major pilgrimage sites from India and Nepal that are related to the Ramayana such as Ayodhya where a temple is being built for lord Ram as well as Janakpur which is believed to be the birthplace of sita, the consort of Ram.

The Krishna Circuit

Krishna circuit comprises twelve destinations associated with lord Krishna viz. Dwarka ( Gujrat), Kurukshetra ( Haryana), Nathdwara, Jaipur and sikar (Rajsthan), Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, Barsana, Nandgan and Govardhan ( Uttar Pradesh) and Puri (odisha).

Features Of Tourism Circuit

  1. It has atleast three major destinations located on it.
  2. None of them exist in the same city/town/ village
  3. It has not separated by long distance.
  4. It has well defined entry and exit points.

Objectives of Tourism Circuit

The objective is to increase the total number of visitors to all the destination on the circuit on the one hand and to provide to the tourist the attractions of all the destination located on the circuit.
